Thanks for that reminder Caroline, I've seen some amazing images in the gallery which would be in with a great chance and it would be great if one of the members won a prize. Mike.

Why on earth do countryfile insist on prints. All that paper wasted. Not very green. What happens to all those prints. Sorry bbc, a great cause and callendar but very wasteful and inconsiderate to the environment..kind regards..david

Hi David, I know what you mean, it might be because of the quantity of pictures the judges have to sieve through it is easier with prints than sending images electronically, that's only a guess David, maybe it's something they might change in the future..Caroline

It does seem strange that they request prints ahead of digital files. Not only are they putting an extra burden on their viewers, but they're also creating themselves more work in the long terms with filing etc. (not to mention the environmental implications mentioned previously).

Surely some staffer at the BBC could manage the images and set up a nice slideshow on an iMac somewhere?!
