View Full Version : Compact camera shutter lag

I am hoping someone can recommend a compact digital camera with minimal shutter lag. I currently use a Canon DSLR but find it bulky to use on days out with the kids. I would like something I can keep in my handbag or pocket but am always frustrated with the delay between pressing the shutter button and the actual photo being taken. When my kids are moving about I find that the real moment for the photo is missed. Can anybody offer any advice? Thanks.

Hi, you need to understand Pre-focussing (http://www.brighthub.com/multimedia/photography/articles/51951.aspx) first.

With my Panasonic TZ7 compact (http://www.trustedreviews.com/digital-cameras/review/2009/03/21/Panasonic-Lumix-DMC-TZ7/p1), I'm able to use 'High Speed Burst' to capture action shots as well.

I pre-focus first (pressing the shutter half way and holding it) in the general direction of action, then press the shutter all the way down and off it goes.

Hope that helps :)
