I have a Nikon D5000, but hoping to go up to a D300 or D700 in the year or so. But I am searching for a macro. I presently have a Tamron 90mm macro and its a great lens, but it doesn't get me close enough and I want to be further away as not to scare the insect off as well. What lens would get me close so as I can see those eyes of a spider. Would a 200mm be better with some sort of extension or converter? As I said my Tamron just isn't getting close enough
Thanks looking forward to your replies

Nothing to do with the macro question but I dont think a step up to the D300 will do a lot for you.
I think you will need to go higher up as I'm pretty sure the D5000 shares the same innards as the D300.

:) I know the step up won't resolve the problem. I am looking for a lens or configuration that would do the job.

I realise that, I was just trying to let you know that the D5000 inherits it's innards from the D300 .
