Hi Folks,

Hi am in the processiong of purchasing a Nikon D5000 and still have some left over kit from my days with film SLR's. One item is a Sunpak Autozoom 3400 flashgun.

Will this work with my new camera?

Thanks

hi . It depends on the age of the flash. The trigger voltage on the flash could damage the camera. Before you do anything i would contact nikon... graham

Thanks Guys, I also asked Nikon. They only support their own kit (understably) and confirm same. Me thinks risk is to high.

I will say that Nikon's response was fast.

You could use if off-camera without damaging your SLR. The lighting will look better too. :)

Hi Stevie, like you I had my flashgun from my film days and even though it went on my Nikon D300 ok I never was tempted to use it because of the huge potential for damage. Instead I bought a Mecablitz 58AF and am so impressed with it's performance that I would recommend one to anybody. All the best.
