Hi,

I just wondered whether anyone has any views on decent DSLR cases? I'm looking for a case which will hold a consumer DSLR (Nikon D5000) with 18-55mm lens and some accesories (maybe an addional lens), provide a decent amount of protection and be easy to carry. any suggestions?

The problem which I see with most cases on the market is that they look like camera cases (perhaps an odd thing to say I know!) - i'm doing a three week trip to asia/australia/pacific and taking my DSLR but don't really want to advertise it with some hulky bag which someone will nick off with or take a shine too!

I've looked a the crumpler ones but i'm not sure if a messanger style is going to be very easy to carry, or fit in an rucksack for hand luggage purposes + they are pretty pricey.

I may be asking the impossible but any suggestions welcome!

Thanks :)

Don't despair, you have a few options! I'd agree on the Crumpler front, they are a bit shouty and can bring unwanted attention. The National Geographic bags (http://www.geographicbags.co.uk/) are very understated and well protected, as are Lowepro (http://products.lowepro.com/catalog/Camera,20.htm). Plenty of cheaper bags look the part, but be sure to get a known brand with decent weather protection. And plenty of Silica gel packs to absorb moisture.
