Which prime lens

i want to buy a fast prime lens for my Nikon D300, the question is: which is the best prime lens, regardless of the cost, the nikon 35mm 1.8 or 50mm? and the 50mm, which is the sharpest the 1.4 or 1.8?

I've got the old 50mm 1.8 with the aperture locking ring. Cost me £45 s/h

I love it. It gets used a lot. (on full frame)
