I like the convenience of the lens, its price and weght: performance is not the best but the paralax error at wide angles makes archetectural photos charactures of reality

It is mostly a matter of "you get what you pay for". I picked one up new in the "discount" bin at a local hardware store for at 70% off of the original price. It has a long zoom range, shoots "almost" macros and is very compact. Image quality is mixed but at times "interesting".
