Nikon R1C1

A pair of SB-R200 Speedlights and an SU-800 Wireless Commander make up the main part of the Nikon unit .

Pros: Highly adaptable fully featured kit, wireless, good light
Cons: Lights set back a little too much, CR123A batteries

A pair of SB-R200 Speedlights and an SU-800 Wireless Commander make up the main part of the Nikon unit and additional lights can be added and operated remotely via the controller, either SB-R200s or other Speedlights.

The lights attach to a lens mount, that allows complete 360° positioning around the circumference, enabling precise, controllable placement. Each light has a GN of 10m @ISO 100 and offers coverage for a 24mm lens or longer with a horizontal tilt of 45°outwards and 60° inwards. Each light also has a modelling/AF assist lamp and an adjustable power output.

The mounting ring fits lenses with a 72mm filter diameter, but Nikon includes a set of adaptors as well as a host of other useful accessories.

Verdict

The unit is easy to set up with Nikon’s TTL, manual and High Speed flash modes. Light is even and accurate, with excellent exposure. In all, the box contains everything you need for macro flash work.
