Metz Mecablitz 45 CL-4 Digital

Please read the specification of Metz a little bit more carefully: review text: "With a GN of 45, the unit doesn’t offer the power of the top-end hotshoe-mounted flashguns, doesn’t match the covering angle (covers a 35mm lens) Metz specifications: "The Metz mecablitz 45 CL-4 digital is a powerful handheld flashgun with a GN of 45 for ISO 100/21° at a 35 mm focal length". The GN of hotshoe-mounted flashguns is normally specified for a focal length of more than 100mm. For a real comparison with a GN specified for 35 mm focal length you have to divide the GN by a factor of three! This will be evident if you want to illuminate a large scene like inside a church. This is my personal experience from using a Metz CT 45 for more than 25 years.

Dr. Niggemann is quite correct. Most hot-shoe flashguns/speedlights with a Guide Number as high as 58 indicated, in reality, when compared to the Metz 45 CL-4, is only 20! Absolutely no contest! Use one and see the difference!

The designation of GN 45 is a METRIC GN .... equivalent to much higher in foot measure GN. A meter is almost three times longer than a foot, giving a GN of 140 in feet. A FULL STOP, twice the power of a top-end shoe mount. The original sponsored review of this site has made a seriously stupid error in not actually measuring and comparing the Metz unit against the shoe mounts. Even more stupid in not acknowldeging this error, and ammending the review.
