With ever-increasing files sizes from DSLRs, we not only need greater storage on our cards and our computers, but we need faster devices to write the data so that we don't spend our days waiting for buffers to free up or for progress bars to move across our computer screens. Lexar's latest models offer a relief from these memory burdens with a high speed card reader and one of the fastest memory cards on the market.
The card reader features just a single CompactFlash card slot. It connects to your computer via Firewire 800 ports (most common on Macs) for transfer rates of up to 100MB/s and can be daisy-chained with up to three other readers.
The CF card is of the very latest UDMA 6 technology, offering 90MB/s write speeds and in testing came in fractionally faster than SanDisk's new Extreme Pro card. The cards come in 8GB and 16GB sizes, with 32GB coming soon.
