Fujifilm's 12-megapixel F50fd features face detection with automatic red-eye removal and a 3x optical zoom.
| Pros: | Fast AF operation, few image quality issues, smart design. |
|---|---|
| Cons: | A bit tardy between shots. |
Features
As more compacts reach and breach the 12MP barrier, it’s becoming harder to distinguish between brands. Factors such as design and added extras become ever more important, and the F50fd is clearly aware of this. A slender 22.9mm body and ‘Aero curve’ design give the F50fd a characteristic look and feel, and an advanced ‘Face Detection 2.0’ system, alongside dual image stabilisation, make sure that it keeps up with competitors under the bonnet as well.
Performance and Image Quality
The F50fd has a quality feel about it and is prompt in use. The AF operation is fast, and shot to shot speed manageable if a bit tardy. There are also very few image issues, with fringing limited throughout the frame, image sharpness maintained right into the corners of the frame and noise well controlled up to ISO 800 and beautiful textures throughout.
