Sony Cyber-shot HX100V review

great review. one question: can you manually control autofocus in all video modes including the hd?

I must say that I was a bit disappointed in the quality of the photos in the gallery. It is only the photo of the dog where the clarity was really good.

I wonder if there is an improved image quality by droping resolution to the 10 mp setting, which is something effective to similarly cramped small sensor cameras...

i had a hx1. i was waiting for this upgrade for years, i see the p100, p500, hs10, hs20, came and go until finally hx100v arrived. im disapointed, i dont care about transferjet and gps drain battery fast, a hx100 without gps and transferjet is needed. also with same sensor size that hx1, why go for almost double megapixeles, that should reduce the good quality the hx1 had.

It's news to me that the small EVF has the same 921 ,000-dot resolution as the viewscreen. It's actually about 230,000 dots. The large viewscreen is not nearly as good as you describe and has a terrible over-saturation with reds.

but thE battery life of hx100v sony camera is shorter than expected.i bought one 2 weeks ago.but i dont like the battery life time.it is shorter in comprison to my previus sony H-DSC 3 BRAND.

no way to attach a polarizer,otherwise I would buy one.A must for landscape photographers

should i buy it..?? i want a superzoom camera in this range. is there other better option available..?? will this be a good replacement for dslr like d3100..?? zoom lens are expensive for it though...

" Mike , i couldn't understand your reasoning here. The camera can be set at 10MP or 16MP I tired both at full zoom a tissue box and then cropped to the small name on the box .he result was exactly the same....no visible difference in image quality

Wayne you can attach a polarizer but you need to purchase a 58mm adapter which is custom made by Jens farberj for around 42.00 Euros go to the dpreview site and the Sony talk forum for more information

@thubleau - if the sensor itself was, say, 10MP or 12MP then each sensor node would be larger than each of those 16 million crammed into the current sensor. That'd equate to each pixel (in the hypothetical sensor) receiving a better quality of light that in turn can result in better image quality overall.

anone can say is hx100v is worth of selling my hx1????is hx100v far better than hx1??plz help

Regarding the intense red in the LCD display. Have not yet loaded my images to a PC, but does the intense red color that I see on the LDC translate to the picture.

The image is very over-saturated in this camera, particularly in red. what makes skin colors looks very artificial.
