Image quality is OK up to ISO 400. ISO 6400 is of course rediculous. ISO Auto seems to set a reletively low value, when F-number is relatively high, like F4.0. The zoom lever is a bit flimsy, sometimes even gets stuck. The equivalent of 24-90mm is OK for my general purposes. Macro is really 'close focus'; on can get as close as 1cm only at the widest zoom setting (which is typical of many compacts), so the lens may cast a shadow on the object you want to photograph. The LVF1's image quality is rather low, but it's a useful to have under certain circumstances.

I have had an LX5 for more than 12 months and it is a wonderful little camera. Perfect for travelling and the results from the Leica lens are stunning. I also own a Nikon D90 and while I am very fond of that too, the LX5 is an easy and refined companion for travelling. Has never let me down.
