Panasonic Lumix TZ8 review

If you prefer the TZ8 to the TZ9 you might like to know there is a TZ9 which is exclusive to the Dixon/Curry group. Full specs are hard to find, but Panasonic says it is the same as a TZ8 but with a 3"/460k LCD screen, stereo sound and an HDMI port. It sells at £250 currently with a £25 cash back offer from Panasonic, so it seems quite good value.

There are plenty of reviews around for the TZ10 - I'm surprised that you appear to be so out of touch! It is similar to the TZ8 reviewed here but with a better screen (as you say) and with a GPS system.

Just bought a TZ8 yesterday. Up graded from old FZ5. I took it for a wee jaunt today and am well pleased with it. Thanks for your excellent review.

I bought a TZ9 on my way through Gatwick duty-free two weeks ago. First impressions are very positive and its certainly living up to your review. I was put off the TZ10 mainly because I think the GPS is merely a gimmick and not really useful. The duty free price plus the cashback meant that I got a TZ9 for £35 less that a TZ8 would have cost me on Amazon.

Can anyone help I was given the Lumix TZ8 Camera for Christmas and although the pictures are good but despite the red eye feature, never mind the angle, all my objects have dreadful red eyes. What am I doing wrong?

Re: red-eye. The TZ8 has a digital red-eye removal option that should locate your subject's eyes and remove the red glow from them automatically. It may be that multiple subjects cause the camera some difficulty in detecting the multiple red eye points. When using flash on camera it's one of those awkward issues that can occur and, sadly, red eyes are often unavoidable unless shooting with an external flash.

Help. Why when taking a group photo do the images of the people on the outside of the group become distorted. Is it because the camera has a wide angle lense? How can I overcome this problem

I'm very pleased with th estill photos on my lumix TZ8 but the videos have a strong blue cast. What am I doing wrong? Thanks

I got a TZ9 from PC World for £149.99. Absolutely delighted with it so far. Image quality is fantastic, the intelligent auto fabulous for a novice and with lots of manual controls if you want to be a little more adventurous.

I have been a keen but not obsessive amateur photographer for more than 50 years and have seen many camera innovations come and go. But for me, the ability to shoot high quality photos. from wide angle to decent telephoto distance usingt a small camera with a single lens is by far the most important, and as my particular interest is in wild flower photography, the wide-angle macro is especially useful. I like the feel, the weightiness (yes, you read right!)and the flexibility of this high quality produyct and I definitely liked the low price (£150) that I had to pay! I shall now keep a macro lens on my DSLR Pentax and take the rest of my photos with the TZ8, thus finally getting rid of the fag of carrying 3 bulky and heavy lenses when I go on holiday - well done Panasonic.

i have had the tz8 for about 6 months now photos and video are good but u must read the instruction maual and experiment to get the best out of the tz8 if u do its second to none
