Panasonic Lumix TZ10 review

That TZ10 looks very similar to a Sony Cyber-shot HX5 ;-))

Just to mention that the there is an error with the picture of the camera. The picture shows the Sony HX5 instead of the Panasonic TZ10.

The manufacturers's website shown is NIKON!

Please be aware that many of those cameras magazines are produced in the same office. Hence it is easy to mix up with those camera photos. There are so many mags on the shelves now. Which one do you guys follow or think trust-worthy?

You can record video as moving jpeg (.MOV) files too as an alternativ to AVCHD...

Is it true that I will be unable to use this new camera with Windows Vista or XP?

Does anyone know of any software that now supports the AVCHD lite.

Would I have any problems downloading photos and/or movies to iPhoto / iMovie on my Apple Computer

Great camera pity about the software. I run XP and it works for the TZ10 but not for HD video from my camcorder SD200. What software should we use??

AVCHD lite works fine with Apple's iMovie. No problems!

I have Pinnacle Studio video editing software for my camcorder, the latest version, would I be able to edit the AVCHD lite video with it?

Just record in jpeg you have the option of recording in both modes with this camera. I don't see your problems

I am afaid of buying this model until I know that the rear screen is not going to go faulty like with the TZ7. There are dozens of people like me who bought the TZ7 and now have broken screens, cost £120 to repair!

I bought the earlier model of this (no GPS) for my husband and liked it so much that I bought one for myself - so that I don't have to lug my Nikon D3 around! I think they are great cameras, but unlike Nikons, are not very hardy - one small drop, in a firm leather case, and the non-GPS version was out of action. Unfortunately, I then dropped mine in some water, and that is now out of action too. As this is a travel camera, why not make it a bit more sturdy, and shower proof? But I like the image results, and the way it works.

Bought this camer a couple of months ago, to replace a larger "bridge" camera that I was fed up of carrying on holiday. Love this camera, fits in a case on my belt, good results. The only negative for me is the manula is supplied as pdf with no paper copy - although the camera is simple to use and gets good results in auto mode, I find it a real pita to not have a simple reference manual to hand to get to grips with the myriad of features.

Re the queries on software and AVCHD. I am running Pinnacle Studio HD Ultimate (version 15)and this supports AVCHD fine -but you have to import via the software supplied with the camera (as explained in the manual. Also, this software will apparently run on Windows XP (SP3) although I am running it on Windows 7. Incidentally, superb camera, very impressed with it. Hope this helps

Have had two of these cameras both develop the same fault within 4 months - dirt/dust inside the lens. Seems to be a common fault from searching the internet

I have found the Lumix TZ10 to be a Excellent compact camera.

Image quality is poor in less than bright daylight. Fuzzy and grainy at lowest iso even on a tripod and self timer. Other Lumix models may do better.
