Review of the Lowepro Fastpack 250
|Pros:||Comfortable, lightweight, ample room|
Model: Fastpack 250
This bag is part of Lowepro’s new Fastpack series of backpacks, and, as its name suggests, offers photographers great accessibility to their kit when they’re on the move, whilst at the same time delivering the essential elements of comfort and lightness.
The Fastpack series is available in four sizes – 100, 200, 250 and 350 – and three colours – black, arctic blue/black and red/black.
There are two compartments - one for holding your camera kit and the other for storing extras. Both are reasonably sized in the 250, and there is ample space to carry a DSLR body with two medium sized lenses. The main compartment can be opened to give 180 degrees full and easy access whilst packing, and is finished off with a security flap that offers extra protection.
The 250, as with the 350, also has a dedicated laptop compartment at the back of the back and this is capable of holding a notebook up to 15.4 inches. This goes up to 17 inches in the case of the 350.
The water-resistant outer fabric, together with the reversed silent zips, gives added protection, and the padded back and cushioned shoulder straps, with easy tightening and release straps, made putting it on and taking it off, a doddle.
In the top compartment there are a number of other useful pockets, and there is also a pocket for carrying either a mobile phone or iPod on one of the outer straps, and a mesh side pocket capable of holding a bottle of water or whatever takes your fancy on the side of the pack. A SlipLock accessory loop also allows for expansion of the carrying capacity further via compatible pouches.
Easy to access and easy to wear bag, which also promises to keep your kit dry and secure whilst you're on the go
