Review of the Panasonic Lumix FX55

Panasonic Lumix FX55

Panasonic Lumix FX55
Launched alongside the FX33 model, the FX55 features almost identical specifications but sees the addition of a higher-resolution 3in LCD. The 28-100mm lens offers the fantastic combination of wideangle viewing on a large LCD, while an 8MP sensor and Venus III engine handle image processing. An Intelligent Auto mode features, as does an ISO range of 100-1600, which also offers a 6400 option at a resolution of 3MP.
The menu pad’s joystick is slightly more inconvenient to use than the buttons features on previous models, but the user interface is friendly and uncomplicated. Images are generally fine. Fringing is superbly controlled and Panasonic’s punchy colours are evident. The main culprit is noise, affecting shadow areas on all sensitivities and becoming quite intrusive at ISO 400.

Our Verdict:
A little expensive, and noise is still an issue despite otherwise pleasing images.
