Review of the Epson V350

Epson V350

Epson V350
www.epson.co.uk
The Epson V350 has refreshingly different clothing to the lamp and lens scanner internals. Instead of the lid opening in the usual way, hinged at one of the shorter ends, it is hinged along the long side. And the lid incorporates a motorised film strip feeder and transparency illuminator. Just press on the damped door on the lid, it springs gently open, you slide your filmstrip in and it is fed through. It’s just like using a dedicated film scanner. And it’s fast, scanning 35mm negatives much faster than other scanners in this category. However, there is no hardware-assisted dust and scratch removal. Results are more grainy and film-like, and don’t look as ‘painted’ as the some other scanners. Overall the V350 results are pretty good.
