Review of the Canon PowerShot A720 IS

Canon PowerShot A720 IS

Canon PowerShot A720 IS
The latest PowerShot releases from Canon have seen the DIGIC III processor trickling down from its DSLR range, as well as incorporating features such as Face Detection.
These are just two of the upgrades that the A720 IS sees against its predecessor, the A710 IS. Other changes come with an extra megapixel (now at 8MP) and an expanded ISO range, now stretching from 80-1600.
There are no complaints about operating speed, being as quick as we’d expect from Canon’s DIGIC III-equipped compacts. Shooting options are accessed via the Function button, and the mode dial contains the PASM quartet, together with Auto, Scene and movie modes. Images are impressive: noise is fantastically controlled, with images displaying a good tonal gradation. Barrelling does make itself known at the 35mm end, though.
