Review of the Canon Pixma MP600

Canon Pixma MP600

Canon Pixma MP600
www.canon.co.uk The Canon Pixma MP600 is a large and imposing beast, but it’s also stylish and beautifully constructed. The lift-up screen that reveals the control panel is a gem of a design, for example, as is the way its various flaps and doors close up neatly to keep dust out. Performance-wise, as we expect from Canon printers, the MP600 is very quick, producing a normal resolution A4 borderless photo print in just over a minute and a 6x4 in less than half a minute. Plain paper printing is also very quick, though A4 copies are surprisingly slow at almost two minutes each. Despite the lack of lighter shade photo inks there is little to complain about concerning print quality, both on plain paper and photo media, with perhaps a touch too much yellow bias than some will like and a slight lack of density in colour areas on plain paper. Scans are very sharp, but along with excessive contrast and over-saturated colour, are not as pleasing as they should be. If size isn’t an issue, the Canon Pixma MP600 is to be recommended. If there is an Achilles’ heel, it’s plain paper colour printing depth. An MP600R variant is available with integrated wireless networking. What Digital Camera Score 91%
