The Canon IXUS series is renowned for delivering quality results alongside stylish design. With the IXUS 80IS a 3x optical zoom, 8MP sensor and 2.5in LCD screen means it stays on-brand. Aesthetically the IXUS 80IS looks and feels solid – its pure aluminium body sees to that – and with a viewfinder, will please some of the more diehard photography fans.
Canon has enhanced its Face Detection technology with Face Detection White Balance, a function that prioritises the colour temperature of the detected face over the background colours, setting the optimum white balance for natural skin tones. The layout of the controls is easy to follow, aiding functionality along with its easily navigable menu. Image quality is very good, with sharpness maintained in difficult shooting conditions and colours beautifully rendered.
