Review of the Benq X725

Benq X725

BenQ X725
www.benq.com
At just 12.5mm, the X725 is unquestionably thin and BenQ hasn’t sacrificed specification for slimness either, managing to squeeze in a 7MP sensor and 2.5in LCD screen into the body. The Pentax lens provides a 3x optical zoom, 38-113mm equivalent, and the maximum ISO 1250 is adequate.
The design of the X725 is much like its touch-screen T700 brother. A robust metal body belies the price tag at first, but on further inspection the plastic buttons and the odd rough edge give a touch more away. In use the X725 disappoints with a frustrating start-up time of a little over 3 seconds, whilst the menu system is prohibitively slow.
Images produced have a tendency to be soft at the centre of the frame, gradually falling off further towards the edges, and noise becoming intrusive around ISO 320.

Our Verdict
An affordable and slim compact that disappoints in use.
