Unsure of which tripod is best for you? What Digital Camera's Editor, Nigel Atherton, talks through the different options available

When it comes to buying a tripod, there’s a lot to take in and consider. Firstly, you’ll want to work out the weight of your heaviest camera and lens combination to make sure the load capacity is suitable for your setup. Secondly, you’ll need to think about what type of tripod you want – does it need to be small and lightweight, or do you want one that’s robust and highly durable? Thirdly, you’ll need to think about what type of head is going to be best for the type of subjects you shoot. Should you choose a ball head for quick movements or opt for a more traditional three-way head?

It can all be rather mind-boggling, so to make your decision just a little bit easier, we’ve created a couple of videos that run through the different options available.
