What does the future hold at Photokina 2012?
Fujifilm
When Fujifilm launched the X-Pro 1 it was initially supported by three X-mount lenses, that consisted of the XF 18mm F2 R, the XF 35mm f/1.4 R and the XF 60mm f/2.4 R Macro.
More recently Fujifilm has announced plans to broaden the range of XF lenses with an additional seven lenses arriving during the next 12 months. The two optics that we look forward to laying hands on and trying out at Photokina are the XF 14mm f/2.8 fixed-focal-length prime and the XF 18-55mm f/2.8-f/4 zoom lens.
As well as the new X-mount lenses there's talk that Fujifilm may be set to launch a lower-priced X model. According to rumours it may feature a hybrid viewfinder like the current X-Pro 1 has, and could cost less with slightly fewer features. As a product it could potentially tempt those who have previously thought about investing in an X-Pro 1, only to be put off by its fairly high price and lack of a standard zoom.
As for the X100, it's almost two years old and we have an inkling that a replacement may be on the way. There are no rumours to support this, however an X200 that adopts the same APS-C 16Mp X-Trans CMOS sensor from the X-Pro 1 is a possibility.
