Nikon D90 user review

WDC reader, Chris Turner, writes of his Nikon D90, 'It's safe to say that there's more I like about the Nikon D90 than I dislike.'

Nikon D90

As a replacement for the popular D80, the Nikon D90 had fairly big shoes to fill. However, it boasts enough upgrades to draw in Nikon users from across its DSLR range - it sports a 12.1MP resolution, 3in 920k pixel LCD screen and 4.5fps burst mode. The real headline feature however, is that the Nikon D90 shoots HD video at 720p resolution, and was the very first DSLR to do so.

    * 12.3MP, 23.6 x 15.8mm CMOS sensor
    * 3in, 920k-pixel TFT-LCD screen
    * 3D Colour Matrix Metering
    * 720p HD video capture at 24fps

Chris Turner talks about his experiences with his Nikon D90

It's safe to say that there's more I like about the Nikon D90 than I dislike. The LCD screen is of a great specification, while chromatic aberration correction in the body is excellent. Performance at high ISO setting is impressive, with in-camera noise reduction working really well.

Finally, I'm just starting to use Nikon's Creative Lighting System (CLS), and the in-built controller is a real plus. On the negative side, the menu system is overly complex, while I also found that the camera needed a bit of fine-tuning out of the box to get the best results.
