Welcome to the new What Digital Camera news blog. In addition to commenting on the big news stories of the day, and sharing our musings on the world of photography in general, we'll also be keeping you updated on what we're up to here in the WDC offices. For example, as I write this, the rest of the editorial team are busy beavering away on our January issue (Yes, I know it's only November, but that's publishing for you).

Here’s a picture of them all hard at work. Mat and Michael (on the left of the picture) are putting the finishing touches to our Awards 2009 feature, where we name our picks of the best gear of the year. (No, we’re not telling – you’ll have to wait!)

Mike (front, right) is writing a technique feature and Paul, next to him, is writing a news story, while Audley and Jacky, beyond him, are sub-editing. None of them seem to want to finish off that last slice of birthday cake that’s been left in the foreground. I guess I’ll have to make that sacrifice.

In addition to the new WDC blog there’s also a new Technique and Advice Blog featuring contributions by an eclectic mix of top photographers and industry experts, as well as numerous other additions and improvements to the site which have also just gone live.

Among the highlights are our new image galleries and forums. If you sign up and contribute either to our image gallery or our forums you’ll be entered into a draw to win a £150 Park Cameras voucher.

As so often happens with website enhancements, the update has caused one or two problems across the site, such as broken links and unwanted line breaks, which Karen (our Online Manager) and I are busy trying to fix. If you spot any of these please bear with us, or you could drop Karen a line and let her know at karen_sheard@ipcmedia.com.

See you again soon.
